Cricket Ball Bounce Comparison

Dedicated to Fakhar-e-Alam

This tool compares the bounce positions of two cricket balls with different release heights and speeds. Built for DP World Dressing Room.

Ball 1 (Red)

Ball 2 (Blue)

22 meters from Release

Mathematical Model

Initial Conditions

  • Release Height: \(h_0\) meters
  • Ball Speed: \(v_0\) km/h (converted to m/s)
  • Gravity: \(g = 9.81\) m/s²

Projectile Motion

The ball follows projectile motion with:

Horizontal motion: \(x = v_x t\)

Vertical motion: \(y = h_0 + v_y t - \frac{1}{2}gt^2\)

Where \(v_y\) is calculated to hit pitch point

Bounce Physics

  • Coefficient of Restitution: 0.7
  • After bounce: \(v_y = -0.7v_y\)

Height at Stumps

Final height is calculated at 22m (stumps) using:

Time to stumps: \(t = \frac{22}{v_x}\)

Height: \(h = h_0 + v_y t - \frac{1}{2}gt^2\)
